Inpatient Dual Diagnosis Treatment Center

Co-Occurring Disorders We Treat

Up to 65% of people who abuse substances have a co-occurring diagnosis. For Substance Abuse Treatment to be effective, co-occurring diagnoses must also be treated, since mental illness can lead to addiction as clients begin to self-medicate to attempt to treat the mental illness. Co-occurring diagnoses in clients who abuse substances include:

  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Bi-polar disorder
  • Personality disorders like Narcissism, Borderline, Anti-social, and Histronic
  • Oppositional defiant disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Eating Disorders
  • PTSD
  • ADHD
  • Schizophrenia

The most effective treatment of substance use disorders includes concurrent treatment of co-occurring disorders. Corner Canyon’s diagnostic and treatment teams evaluate whether these disorders exist and plan treatment that addresses these concerns, behaviorally, mentally, emotionally, and with medication if necessary.
