How Our Mental Health And Addiction Recovery Program Started
At Corner Canyon Recovery, we believe that adults should receive comprehensive assessment before experiencing the most effective treatment for mental health and addiction. We opened our recovery treatment program with the intention of improving the quality of services offered to adults, feeling like many programs maintain their status quo instead of seeking and implementing available research validated treatment methods. We felt inspired to create a treatment program that would address our concerns about clinical expertise, the assessment of physical, mental, and emotional health, and the quality of programming culture available. We have implemented our ideas and developed a program that we would want to attend if we needed treatment ourselves.
Corner Canyon was developed by co-founders Cheryl Kehl, LCSW and Rob Lund, BA, CRS, as well as other consulting partners. These consulting partners also own Gateway Academy, a highly regarded Residential Treatment Center for vulnerable adolescent boys. Cheryl has 26 years of experience in adolescent treatment, and has founded several other adolescent programs. She has spent 3 years in adult treatment, working with the adults at Corner Canyon Recovery. Rob has spent many years volunteering for families and individuals who are in need emotionally, physically, and mentally. Since then, we have developed a highly professional and savvy management team, most of whom have worked together in the past, and been assembled because of the quality of work they do, as well as the fact that they like each other and work well together as a result. They provide the best care and treatment possible for all of our clients.
What makes our treatment center stand out from other centers is that we offer a comprehensive and innovative assessment, as well as individualized treatment for our clients, meeting their differing needs for the most effective intervention. Our assessment is significantly more extensive than the industry average, including DNA testing and brain scans among all the other more usual assessments like psychological and psychiatric and medical testing. After going through the assessment process to understand their needs, individuals experience higher staff to client ratios, brain technology treatment, a gut-brain diet, massage therapy, experiential therapies, and highly trained clinical and other treatment team members who have created a very effective, caring, balanced treatment program. Each aspect of our programs complements the others and combines into a unique, individualized, and effective treatment process.
Company Achievements & Future Growth
Corner Canyon Recovery continues to see great results in the recovery and treatment of our patients. Over the past few years, we have seen significant success in treating trauma patients, reducing Trauma symptoms up to 51%. Our Trauma Treatment is specialized and comprehensive and we recently added SGB shots for rapid reduction of PTSD symptoms, as a result of a recently completed study by the Veterans Administration indicating efficacy. In addition, we have seen our clients retain their progress with their addiction problems, mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship problems, medication management, and many other concerns. We credit this success to compassionate, effective personnel running effective programming and implementing science backed treatment in small groups, we are licensed for 16 clients and will not expand beyond that in any facility. We believe that the most effective treatment occurs in a comfortable home setting with people who feel like family and model assertive communication and healthy relationships. We plan to continue improving our services while maintaining an intimate setting.
We are Joint Commission accredited, which means we follow the highest standard in treatment, behavior management, and medical protocols.

Who We Are
Corner Canyon Recovery is a 16 bed, co-ed, mental health and addiction focused Residential Treatment Center located in Draper, UT at the base of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. We are dual-diagnosis, working with issues related to mental health, disorders like depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, and other mental health concerns, in addition to substance abuse and addiction problems. Research indicates that these are most effectively treated concurrently, or at the same time.
We have an amazing team, with excellent support all through the process from admission to discharge, starting with caring and experienced admissions personnel and including a thorough assessment with a Psychiatrist and Psychologist and Medical Personnel, including two kinds of DNA testing and Brain Scanning and Intervention. Our clinical team is experienced, insightful, innovative, and focused on individualized treatment for each client. Our Psychiatrist attends treatment team meetings to ensure that clients receive collaborative, comprehensive treatment in all areas.
What We Offer
Corner Canyon is designed to provide comfortable living, with top of the line beds, linens, and furniture in a beautiful home setting, with excellent, healthy “clean” food provided by experienced chefs who are educated in Gut-Brain science. We also have an amazing outdoor living area with a new pool, hot tub, and outdoor kitchen. Our vans have tinted windows for privacy and client information is handled with confidentiality and respect.
We have a strong focus on aftercare, with our Intensive Out Patient program to support clients who are ready for a step down in treatment and support.
We care about each of our clients and have created an effective, supportive, collaborative, comfortable experience to help clients work through presenting concerns and to create an appropriate aftercare plan to aid in relapse prevention.
How We Help
Corner Canyon focuses on Brain Healing, utilizing Neuro Enhancement Brain Technology, the Gut-Brain Connection Diet, and Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention, all of which have research validating their efficacy. We also have a well-rounded addiction treatment program, offering a 12 step, Smart Recovery, and Refuge Recovery in addition to carefully designed phase work and therapeutic educational groups. We have a strong focus on family involvement, with weekly family therapy sessions and regular Family Day, with psycho-educational groups, assertive communication, and a word from our Doctor on brain chemistry. We regularly incorporate feedback from clients.
CCR creates a safe environment for the LGBTQ community, with sensitivity training, ongoing education, and gay personnel. Corner Canyon has a Seeking Safety, Trauma Informed foundation, creating emotional safety and support in working through related concerns.
